Netflix is quietly switching up its logos.
The streaming service launched a new black-and-red icon that will grace its mobile apps and social media channels with little fanfare on Monday, a spokesperson confirmed to Mashable.
The new logo is a narrow capital “N” that looks like a red ribbon folded over itself against a black background.
Netflix’s new icon (right) will not entirely replace its current logo (left).
The company says it’s not replacing the familiar red-on-white banner logo it first inducted two years ago, but the new icon will be used on “product integrations in the near future.”
Social media seems to be a bit divided on the aesthetic quality of the new icon, which was first reported by thenextweb
Considering the loud negative response to many corporate logo changes in the past year, Netflix may chalk that up as a win.
