World Milk Day is celebrated by the people all across the world on annual basis on 1st of June. It is celebrated to increase the common public awareness about all aspects of the natural milk such as its natural origin, milk nutritional value and various milk products including its economic importance throughout the globe. It started being celebrated in several countries (Malaysia, Colombia, Romania, Germany, United Arab Emirates, USA and etc) by the participation of various consumers and employees of milk industries.
Milk is focused as the global food throughout the celebration of world milk day. Varieties of promotional activities are conceived to celebrate and work together in order to distribute the message of milk importance to the common public through series of promotional activities all through the day.
In Nigeria, World Milk Day celebration has impacted large population to understand the reality of milk. Milk is great source of all the healthy nutrients required by the body (calcium, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, iodine, iron, potassium, folates, vitamin A, vitamin D, riboflavin, vitamin B12, protein, healthy fat and etc. It is very energetic diet provides instant energy to the body as it contains high quality proteins including both essential and non-essential amino acids and fatty acids.
As the world prepares for ‘World Milk Day’, Peak Milk, Nigeria’s number one dairy brand, has perfected plans to make this year’s edition of the event an unforgettable experience for pupils in selected Primary and secondary schools across Lagos. It is an initiative being packaged through driving versatility and imaginative use of milk tagged ‘Art of milk’.
The idea‘PLAN A DAY’S MEAL WITH MILK (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)’ will entail schools and pupils planning three square meals for a day using milk.
This is targeted to drive a new culture of cooking with milk in Nigerian homes. “Since milk is a very important agricultural product containing various vitamins and minerals which are essential for the human body, we want to enlighten people on the health benefits of milk and in the long run, help curb malnutrition in children and youth who are the bulk of our population”.
Participating schools are expected to create recipes with milk and send in these recipes to firstname.lastname@example.org. The best preferred school’s recipes would be chosen from all submitted and 10 finalists will meet for a face off on June 1st(which is World Milk Day) to be showcased to popular chefs, nutritionists, representatives from the Ministry of Education as well as members of the brand team.
Criteria such as personal appearance, sanitary mannerism, creative use of milk, understanding meal planning, nutrition knowledge and team work are key. The preferred schools recipes will go home with fantastic prizes such as a branded LED screen, air conditioning units for six class rooms and three classrooms in different orders. All participating schools and supporting teachers will get surprising gifts for exhibiting great creativity with Milk.
