[GUERILLA ADVERTISING] #VIDEOGAME: SQUARE ENIX ACTIVATES HITMAN WITH FEMALE RESTROOM BLOODTRAILS.

Square Enix decided that a great way to advertise the new Hitman game was to install blood trails in girls toilets.
The blood is a reference to the fact many players of the Hitman titles choose to hide bodies in a toilet stall where there’s little chance they will be discovered.

As far as I know, the advertising has only been seen in the girls toilets at The PC Gamer Weekender 2016 event held in London on March 5-6. It had the desired effect, with one tweet by @graceblaise , who is social media manager for the Warhammer Total War series, garnering over 23,000 engagements, 2,208 retweets, and 2,495 likes. And that’s just from one account.

As this was a gaming event, blood trails on the floor of a toilet were unlikely to be met with screams or complaints.
However, I suspect Square Enix won’t be repeating this in more general public toilets for fear of causing major upset.
In January it was announced that the new Hitman game would be fully episodic , meaning we don’t have to wait for the whole game to be complete before getting to play sections of it. The first episode – Episode 1 “Intro Pack,” releases tomorrow for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows.
