Amal Clooney a human rights lawyer with Doughty Street Chambers, married to    british    actor    George    Clooney reportedly   turned    down a   lucrative
contract with a “LUXURY BRAND”( name withheld) in order to defend the release of former jailed president of the
Maldives in court.
Mr Mohamed Nasheed, the country’s first democratically elected leader, is serving a 13-year “terrorism” sentence for allegedly ordering the arrest and detention of a judge during his tenure –
but    human   rights   activists have described the government’s actions as a “travesty of justice” .
A representative of Mrs Clooney said the international human rights barrister had   been offered    lucrative    fashion
contract. “She’s   been   offered   huge amounts of money to not do this job
and to just be famous, pretty and stylish-She was very flattered but it’s just not what she’s interested in doing,” the representative allegedly said as at press time.
Last month a news organisation had come under fire after referring to human rights   lawyer   Amal   Clooney   as     an “actor’s   wife” in   their   coverage   of  a
court   case     involving   three   of     Al Jazeera’s    journalists    convicted     of “spreading  false news”  and   sentenced to prison in Egypt
Ms Clooney read law at the University of Oxford, before obtaining a postgraduate degree from the New York University School of Law. She’s been part of the president’s legal team.
